Edmund graduated from Staffordshire University’s NCTJ-accredited BA(Hons) Journalism degree in July 2013. After graduating he secured freelance work with the sports desk of the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, newspapers owned by Archant Suffolk. This led to a full-time staff position on the papers’ newsdesk which commenced in September 2013.
Edmund completed the NCTJ Diploma while studying at Staffordshire and achieved the NCTJ’s National Qualification in Journalism through Archant in March 2015. He received an award from the NCTJ for his News Report exam after scoring the highest mark of the 88 reports who sat the exam that month.

Edmund has been an active volunteer throughout his time at university with One Media Group, the media outlet of Staffordshire University’s Students’ Union. A member of the sports team since first year, Edmund was selected as Head of Sport in his final year. In this role he was responsible for the department’s three weekly radio programmes which included the introduction of a three hour Five Live-style commentary show providing coverage of university sports fixtures which he anchored for much of the year.
As Head of Sport for OMG, Edmund also supervised and edited written content for the organisation’s website and coordinated the group’s ten-hour coverage of the annual Staffordshire vs. Keele universities Varsity competition.
Having had a keen interest in railways from an early age, Edmund is now a volunteer with three heritage railways, primarily with the locomotive departments as fireman and driver. Edmund has also held management roles with one of these groups; Volunteer Coordinator, Press and Publicity Officer and Operating Superintendent for the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway.
